We specialise in flexible cables with our own Texoprene brand, complex cable reeling systems, industrial plugs & sockets, festoon & downshop systems, energy chains and associated control solutions. We have an experienced in-house design and commissioning team that have innovatively designed and successfully commissioned large national and cross border key operation installations in Ports & Harbours, Mining and Heavy Industry.

History

Powermite was established in 1967 with 4 people in the West Rand with the express purpose of serving the South African market with a wide range of specialized electrical equipment in the material handling field, with primary focus on the mining industry. AMPCO, a local manufacturer of industrial plugs and sockets, was acquired by Powermite in 1974 to complement the existing product offerings and solutions we were supplying into industry. By 1981 we have grown to be a 'one stop shop' supplier in the field of electrical crane materials, flexible cables and industrial plugs and sockets. Our staff complement had since grown to a complement of 114 staff with our head office in Sandton and branches in Cape Town, Durban and Richards Bay. In 2004, Powermite and Ampco was acquired by the Hudaco Group and became a trading division of Hudaco (Pty) Ltd, a JSE listed company.
